TIRANA, June 13
A group of retirees protested today in front of the Italian Embassy in Tirana, requesting from the neighboring country to acknowledge the pensions of Albanian emigrants through an agreement, as it is with some other countries. The appeal was made to the Italian ambassador in Albania, Alberto Cutillo.
Whereas a part of retirees, according to the law in force has been obliged to give up from their residency in order to have a pension during the years they have been working in Italy. According to them, this thing is an injustice.
For the time being, the pensions are recognized with 8 countries worldwide, and the last agreement was signed with Canada. But in Italy, where more than half a million Albanian emigrants are residing, half of which are working, no action was made yet.
