According to a statement made by Enver Ferizaj, head of National Union of Agro Business, the only responsible institution for the massive flooding in southern Albania is the Ministry of Agriculture, since it has failed to undertake the needed measures at the right time. If the Ministry would have undertaken measures, it would prevent several colossal damages caused in lands of farmers.
Ferizaj argues his statement by saying that the Ministry cut the funds accorded for investments in the drainage systems. He appeals to the government to take immediate measures to prevent other damages, since “we are in the beginning of winter rainfalls”.
During the past week, massive flooding in area of Lushnje, Fier and Vlora caused the flood of 1700 hectares of land and the Ministry of Agriculture declared that this has been caused by the non supply of pumping stations with electrical energy.
