TIRANA, November 27
Starting June 1, 2019, Albania and Kosovo will abolish roaming charges. The agreement was signed during the fifth joint governmental meeting held in Peja on Monday.
Hence, everyone that has an Albanian or Kosovan number won’t be charged extra for calls, SMS, or mobile data when traveling between both countries. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on business as it will reduce expenses and increase efficiency. Moreover, affordable and flexible communication will benefit economic cooperation. The agreement is a positive step for regional cooperation.
Previously, chairman of the steering board of the Albanian Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) Kreshnik Gashi said in an interview for telegrafi.com that the abolition of roaming charges is an important initiative and AKEP is ready to execute the implementation of the decision as soon as possible.
