Farmers in country’s south which flooded by the overflow of rivers and heavy rains will be in top of the list in Ministry of Agriculture subventions programs. Agricultural and Rural Development Agency announced that government will approve an ad hoc decision for flooded families which will be prior in profiting from subvention schemes, since their looses are huge and will affect in their economic situation and in country’s economy if will not be substituted in a short time.
The decision will help farmers to recover the flooded lands, to rebuild destroyed greenhouses or for the germination of soil. Farms in southern area, particularly in Novosele and Fier, the most damaged areas from flooding, have a significant weight in exports of agricultural bio products and in supplying the domestic market with fruits and vegetables.
Another measure that will be taken to recover flooded areas is a detailed instruction for national schemes for this year and starting from March 1st, the government will accept applications of farmers which seek to profit from governmental funds. The total amount of the fund is 1.7 billion ALL, an increased amount compared to 2014.
The applications of farmers will be evaluated by a computerized system which prevents abuses and distributes funds based on merit.
