TIRANA, July 19
After the cigarettes, the Albanians seem that they have given up on coffee too. The data from the General Directorate of Customs, show that in the first 5 months of 2019, have been imported and consumed 3311 tons of coffee, where the month of May registers the biggest amount of the clearance. But what has happened during the last couple of years?
If we analyze the figures from 2015 and compare it with the same period in 2019, the amount of coffee that goes for consuming was the lowest in 2019, after that of 2017, where it was registered 3110 tons. Whereas, in regards to the period January 2018-May 2018, where it was registered the highest value of clearance, the decrease for this year was approximately 386 tons. But, we have to wait until the end of the year, to have a general view of the trend. Since Albanians are known worldwide to be big coffee drinkers, the latest figures come as a surprise for everyone.
