In July 2019, the export of goods, reached the value of Lek28 billion, increasing by 3.6% compared to the same month in 2018. Whereas, the import of goods reached the value of Lke60 billion, increasing by 2.3% compared to July 2018. On a report published by the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) titled ‘Foreign Trade, July 2019’ the trade deficit during last month was Lek32 billion, increasing by 14.1% compared to the previous month.
Whereas, during the period January-July 2019, the export of goods reached the value of Lek180 billion, decreasing by 2.6% compared to the same period of last year. The imports of goods during January-July 2019, reached the value of Lek377 billion, increasing by 2.6% compared to the same period of 2018. Thus, the trade deficit for the period January-July 2019, increased by 7.8% compared to the same period of 2018.
Albania’s main trade partners in July 2019
According to INSTAT, in July 2019, the countries that Albania had the biggest increase in exports, compared to July 2018, were:
1. Spain (42.1%)
2. Germany (17.1%)
3. Kosovo (7.3%)
During the same month, the countries that Albania had the biggest decrease of exports, were: Montenegro (19.3%), followed by North Macedonia (17.1%), and Italy (3.6%).
In July 2019, the countries that Albania had the biggest increase in imports, compared to the same month in 2018, were:
1. Greece (11%)
2. Turkey (4.3%)
3. Italy (2.7%)
Whereas, in July 2019, the countries that the imports had the biggest decrease in imports, were: Russia (66.6%), followed by Spain (28%), and China (2.3%).
