The Minister of Economy and Tourism announced the government may possibly decrease the VAT in the tourism sector down to 8% or even 5%, during the discussions at the parliamentary Commission of Producing Activities.
“The government is considering making changes in the Law on Tourism for decreasing the VAT and for this we are conducting an analysis and in a short time jointly with the Ministry of Tourism we will present a proposal in this regard,” declared Ahmetaj. Currently, VAT for the tourism sector is 20% and experts say this percentage is the highest amongst neighboring countries.
