The Top 100 Most Profitable Albanian Companies

TIRANA, October 22

Concession companies, banks, and gambling companies were the most profitable businesses in Albania for 2017. Monitor magazine narrowed down the top 100 companies in Albania that are helping fuel market growth based on their profit margin. Based on the available data collected from the companies’ balance sheets, the enterprises with the highest annual revenues are from the concession and gambling sectors. At the same time, these are two sectors that do not require much business intuition, organizational skills, or market surveys.
Gambling businesses marked a two-fold increase in revenue since 2013 while the profit margin is over 50 percent.
In the meantime, banks are listed among the top companies in terms of annual income due to the repositioning of provisions, declining bad loans, low interest rates, etc.
Construction is another sector that is generating high revenue and this is the reason why it is attracting almost all the free capital. According to Monitor, the 100 most profitable companies gained a total income of Euro 540 million or 13 percent more compared to the profit generated by the top 100 profitable companies in 2016. This amount accounts for 4.8 percent of the annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
