The cultivation of mussels increased significantly during 2014, mainly in the southern city of Saranda, causing an increase of the cultivation surface in littoral zones near to Butrint Lake. The amount of gathered mussels during the past year increased by 50% compared to the production of mussels in 2013, at an amount of 1500 tons.
