The Swiss government granted a fund of 11 ml EUR for the improvement of water suppliers and sewerage systems in Albania. Albanian ministers of Finances and Transport together with the Swiss ambassador to Albania signed an agreement to finance the rehabilitation project of water supply plans in seven municipalities, respectively in Berat, Kucove, Gjirokaster, Kamez, Lushnje, Delvine and Librazhd.
Minister Cani evaluated this agreement as very profitable for water supply infrastructure in country and the support the Swiss government is showing to Albania. “Our friends and partners are supporting us. The signal of this agreement will have positive impact in the next years’ budget and enables us to invest in other important projects. But, water supply for all citizens is our priority,” said him.
In turn, the Swiss ambassador to Albania, Christoph Graf highlighted the access the citizens in these seven municipalities will have in every day water supply. After the signing of the agreement, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Edmond Haxhinasto, said this project is in line with governments’ projects for public investments regarding the improvement of water supply and sewerage system. This project will help in the reduction of water loss, ended his word Haxhinasto.
