TIRANA, December 19
This is going to be the first Christmas when the Albanian politicians, senior personalities, and ambassadors will not be expected in an official reception by the Metropolitan Archdiocese Tirana-Durres. On the contrary, this institution will break the tradition of politicians that visit the church and issue usual Christmas wishes and even some remarks on political situations. A charity lunch with the poor will be held instead.
“Tirana-Durres Archdiocese has decided that this Christmas, instead of the official reception with politicians, ambassadors and other personalities, it will held a lunch for the poor. This means that no official reception will be held this year on Christmas day. We hope on everyone’s understanding on this matter,” it was said in the official statement issued by the Archdiocese.
Moreover, it was highlighted that Christmas is a celebration for everyone and especially for the poor and for those living on the edge of society. The initiative was praised by believers, who say that this is the Christmas spirit.
