A new American investment has been established recently in Maminas region (25 km away from Tirana city), a factory that will process medicinal plants. Present in the inauguration ceremony were the Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panariti, the General Director of USAID, Macus Johnson, representatives of the factory and medicinal plants’ gatherers and producers.
The Minister of Agriculture said that such modern investment is an excellent model of partnership between farmers and agro processors regarding the production and storage of natural products based on scientific criteria.
The American factory will sign a 5 year term contract with medicinal plants’ producers and gatherers for a closer collaboration between them. This is considered as a great incentive for the development of this sector, according to the Minister.
Panariti highlighted the fact that 70% of the USA sage market is supplied by Albanian medicinal plants companies, adding that the USA remains Albania’s main partner in the medicinal plants’ trade.
Albania is known for its natural medicinal plants which are known for their values and get exported in the international markets since 1991.
