Albanian Customs applied on December 3rd the new online application form for the simplified procedure of merchandise declaration, applicable by trusted and serious companies. During the first trial of the system were present the Prime Minister Edi Rama and Ministers of Finance, Economic Development as well as the General Director of Albanian Customs, Elisa Spiropali.
The application showed all the steps a company must follow to declare its goods. The authorized person of a company do not submits documents at the General Directory of Customs offices but needs to compile the custom’s declaration after the merchandise has arrived at the company’s warehouse and submit them online. All the merchandise must be prescribed in details and the declaration is a very easy way that avoids bureaucracies.
The new procedures are applicable only by some trusted companies, and according to the General Director of Customs, there will be other serious companies authorized to apply these procedures in the next months. Spiropali declared that this mechanism provides facilities for businesses and increases transparency with the aim to fight corruption.
“Customs Administration is trying to fight corruption and that the procedure eliminates the uncertainties since its electronic form is equal and transparent for all companies. This mechanism also reduces companies’ costs, according to Spiropali. “All companies have the right to apply to become authorized economic operators in order to take advantage of this new system and to gain the status of an authorized company. We hope the process of accepting applications by companies and selecting them, will end by the February 2015,” ended Spiropali.
