TIRANA, May 30
Tirana International Airport (TIA) has introduced self-scanning boarding passes before security control through eGates. These gates an innovative automated technology that is becoming widespread in international hubs. The automated system verifies a passenger’s boarding pass in the departure area prior to them crossing into the security check area.
The system checks the biometric data in the boarding pass, hence reducing waiting times and increasing the quality of services at the airport.
The automated gates provide greater flexibility with regards to the airport floor and passenger flow management and process passengers faster.
The advantage of this technology is that it accelerates the checking of travel documentation and increases the level of security for individuals accessing the security control area. They also increase accessibility for people with special needs.
