Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panariti has spoken about the fishing industry in Albania, by declaring at a press conference that the fishing fleet will be renovated and equipped with new technologies. The fishing fleet will be revised in order to identify the problems and absences of it, since the government aims to increase its fishing capacities, said Panariti. “Our aim is to increase exploiting capacities of fishing, in order to reach higher fishing quotas and for this there will be a total revision of the fishing fleet,” declared Panariti.
As for the new fishing port, Minister of Agriculture declared that it will soon enter into function and will be an additional facility for all fishermen and fishing companies. Based on the fishermen and fishing association’ suggestions the government will soon establish a construction site for the repair of fishing boats. Also, a very important and necessary initiative will be the construction of a new fishing market, a place that will ensure a secure market for fish products.
Panariti also spoke about the establishment of a fishing school for the qualification and the specialization of young fishers, part of this reforms’ chain in the fishing industry in country. The Minister mentioned government’s backing about this industry sector by stressing the importance of circulation and carbon taxes removal, a reform that reduces significantly fishing costs.
“Now fishermen can buy a liter of diesel 70 ALL cheaper and this will encourage them to increase fishing capacities and will enhance their competing abilities. Albania has 410 km shoreline and many lakes, whose exploitation will help us to improve our standards towards the EU standards,” ended his word Panariti.
