Southern regions of Vlora and Fier have suffered massive flooding after heavy rains hit the country on Saturday, by causing the death of a 50 years old man in Vlora and the flooding of many houses and businesses, mostly in urban areas.

On this regard, the Minister of Agriculture Edmond Panariti declared in a press conference that the government is undertaking measures to supply with electric energy the pumping stations by adding that “we all must mobilize in order to handle this emergency state, caused by heavy rains.” The Minister said the government is working in avoiding more damages in flooded areas by mobilizing all the civil emergency structures in the upcoming hours and days.
The mayor part of urban areas in Vlora city has suffered damages due to the massive flooding, since the level of rain increased tremendously. Massive flooding has also been registered in Elbasan city.

In Fier, Gjanica river overflowed by causing the flooding of hundreds of houses, where 115 houses are totally out of function and 120 others have suffered heavy damages. Most of the inhabitants in this area have been evacuated by the emergency staff.
