TIRANA, March 28
Local Festivals is the newest competition launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The initiative aims at promoting unique traditional values of different regions and to support economic development in rural areas through regional festivals focused on culinary, local products and traditions.
Local festivals are a way for generating local development and for promoting all the rural areas throughout Albania.
Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and Risi Albania Project invite all the municipalities and organizations to apply for this initiative. Applications are welcomed until April 20 and the winning projects will be supported by the two ministries and Risi Albania Project.
This initiative is a new approach to 100 Villages strategy which consists of several projects that aim at revitalizing the sectors of infrastructure, culture, environment, and agriculture. These sectors that are connected to each-other complement models of contemporary agrotourism.
Local Festivals competition encourages innovative ideas in the tourism sector and provides support to turn them into reality. The competition focuses on the coastal and southeastern region and in the areas identified in the strategy of 100 villages. The goal of the festivals is to attract more visitors and tourists, to strengthen relations between local power and enterprises, to promote local products, create more jobs for youth and marginalized groups, and to extend the tourist season. The application form is available HERE.
