“Jazz and Wine” festival first edition is set to take place in Berat city on September 5th-6th with the aim to revive the Bizantine music, by mixing it with modern sounds. The founder and producer of this festival, Eda Zari, has highlighted the historical and cultural importance of the host city, inclused in the World Heritage list by Unesco in 2006.
According to the organizers, this festival is intended to sensitize Albanians and foreigners about the rare values of Berat city, the real evidences of our European roots and the musical potential of Jazz and iso-polyphony, realized by Albanian and international artists.
In addition, in this festival will be presented the most distinctive products of wine, produced in the central and south regions of Albania and Kosovo, which compete successfully in the foreign markets. During this festival, the participants will also have the chance to see an old traditional ritual of Albanians, the pressing of grapes.
According to the founder of Jazz and Wine festival, Eda Zari, this will be a good start for initiating the cultural dialogue between artists from different countries in an ancient city as Berat.
