Albanian Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) published the latest report on exports and imports performance during October. Exports have increased by 4.2% during October, a significant increase compared to the previous one, according to the report. They reached the amount of 22 billion ALL but compared to the same period of a year before (October 2013), exports decreased by 0.3%.
Exports of electrical energy and minerals decreased by 27.9% in annual terms while the group with the highest annual increase of exports is “equipment and machinery” by 33.7%, “textile and shoes” by 25.3% and “leather products” by 23.7%.
Speaking about imports performance in October, the amount of them reached 52ml ALL, increasing by 10.5%, if we compare it to the same period of 2013 and an increase by 8.9% compared to September 2014. Imports of machinery and equipments increased by 41.1%, “chemical and plastic products” imports increased by 15.4%, but a decrease of imports has been noticed for minerals and electrical energy by 19.4%.
The reports shows that trade deficit during October 2014 reached the amount of 29 bl ALL, increasing by 20.4% compared to the same period of 2013 and 12.6% compared to September 2013. Trade exchanges with the EU countries make 69.4% of the total trade exchanges of Albania which has as main partners Italy, Greece, China and Turkey.
