Incomes from agricultural farms in Vlora county have increased as Vlora is ranked first for incomes from agricultural sector, followed by Fier and Lushnja southern areas.
The Executive Director of Economic and Local Development Agency, Mirela Koci declared that incomes from agriculture sector estimated to be more than 5.8 billion ALL and about 5.9 billion ALL from livestock sector during 2014.
Data cited by Koci are the results of a survey conducted by Economic and Local Development Agency and the Directorate of Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture, in the framework of IPATHECH project, financed by the European Union. In these areas, most of farms are owned by self employed families and their number has increased into about 30.000 from 353341 farms throughout Albania, the results show. A very interesting data deducted by the survey is that workers’ age hired in these farms varies from 25 to 50 years old, an indicator that shows the involvement of youth in agricultural sector.
Economic and Local Development Agency is applying several project to boost agricultural production and to increase the number and effectiveness of farms by using contemporary technology means as technology in miniature. This is a new and innovative platform that has been tested in producing olive oil by ELDA in cooperation with Italian company “Olivia servis” in a farm in Orikum Municipality.
“Technology in miniature provides for farmers mobile factories for olive oil production which process livestock and agricultural products. These factories are able to process various products with low costs and better quality, but they are very expensive and cannot be afforded by all farmers,” said Koci.
