TIRANA, September 4
The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has launched a call for proposals to support projects in Albania funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The announcement made on Tuesday, September 2 on ministry’s official website, says that the National Designated Authority of the GCF in Albania, in collaboration with MTE invites all the interested to offer proposals with the purpose of gathering ideas for strategic projects on ‘Developing the Capacities of Albania for an Effective Engagement with the Green Climate Fund’. The identification of such strategic projects ideas is expected to further strengthen stakeholder’s engagement while ensuring a coherent national approach to climate finance and prioritization needs.
The ministry clarifies that the identified ideas should fall under one or some of following thematic priorities:
Mitigation
Reduced emissions from:
- Energy access and power generation;
- Low emission transport;
- Buildings, cities and industries, and appliances;
- Forestry and land use
or
Adaptation
Increased resilience of:
- Most vulnerable people and communities;
- Health and well-being, and food and water security;
- Infrastructure and built environment;
- Ecosystem and ecosystem services.
The Ministry welcomes potential applicants from the public or private sectors, to submit their ideas for strategic projects by filling out the Project Identification Form, which could be found on the MTE’s website, also by e-mail at: [email protected]. The deadline to submit the ideas is until October 14, 2019.
The South-Korea based Green Climate Fund is a fund established since 2010, within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to support projects and programs for the adaptation and mitigation practices against the climate change, in the developing countries.
