Official figures published by the Ministry of Agriculture show that in the first semiannual of this year the agricultural exports of fruits and vegetables increased significantly or doubled in several counties.
In Berat county, the total volume of agricultural exports was estimated to be 21730 tons of product by the end of the first semiannual, a doubled volume of exports compared to the same period a year ago (10455 tons of product in 2014).
Also in Lushnje county exports doubled since for the first six months of the year, they are estimated to have reached the amount of 36023 tons of product, compared to exports in 2014 which were estimated to be 18909 tons of product.
In Elbasan county, the amount of agricultural exports increased to 40134 tons of product during January-July 2015 period, compared to the same period of a year ago where exports reached the amount of 36400 tons of product. Exports in the agriculture sector also increased in Fier and Vlore counties despite the heavy situation created by massive flooding in the beginning of this year.
The official figures also show an increase of egg and milk exports toward EU markets. Albania exported an amount of 10 million eggs to Germany in the first half of this year and experts predict this amount to increase up to 60 million eggs exported until the end of 2015.
