EU Certified Hybrid Seeds Tested in Fields

TIRANA, June 17

The debate for the domestic products, a good part of which are not bio, on the contrary, pesticides are being used, has obliged the Agricultural Technology Transfer Center in Lushnje, to start a test. Hundreds of seeds which are sown in fields as well as in greenhouses are being tested as hybrid products.

These plants after being tested for their resistance against diseases and efficiency are given to farmers. The Agricultural Technology Transfer Center in Lushnje, along with the hybrid seeds are developing the autochthonous seeds too. These seeds are likable for the consumer, because of the special taste, but not for the producers.

According to specialists of this Centre, this year have been increased the requests for domestic vegetables. In the fields have been sown over 800 seeds of the tomato. After they are produced in this centre, then they enter to the market to be sold. These hybrid seeds are certified by the EU. The plants that don’t give the right performance, are disqualified from the market.
