European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will allocate 18 mln EUR grant to Albania for the construction of Vlora By-pass. The agreement signed on Tuesday, February 3, by the Minister of Finances Shkelqim Cani and EBRD Director for Western Balkan Holger Muent, with a presence of the Minister of Transports, Edmond Haxhinasto.
Minister Cani declared after signing the agreement that this grant is set in disposal for the construction of Vlora bypass and for a 29 km road in south of Vlora and completes the missing amount of money needed for this investment. “These investments will improve infrastructure and will reduce city’s pollution. Another beneficial aspect of it will be the ability to control the road traffic during the summer season,” stated Minister Cani.
This investment will make able the connection of Levan-Vlore road with another road, with direction toward Oricum village. According to the Minister, the contract for the start of works will be signed in March and the constructions will last circa 30 months.
“Vlora and Fieri bypasses will create a new reality in these touristic areas and in road traffic in southern Albania. Tourism, transport and environment will be the sectors that will benefit from this project,” ended his word the Minister.
