In times when foreign currencies have strengthen their position in the Albanian market, exchange points keep high fees for their services, by 8% of the exchanged amount of money. Citizens have claimed that the fee is unreasonable.
The claims have been made public by the Director of Domestic Market in the Ministry of Economy, Klodi Neziri, which said: “We have received several of complains by consumers regarding this issue and we have taken measures in monitoring the market and exchange points to avoid abuses.”
Even bank of Albania officials have raised voice about this concern but Neziri ensured that the Ministry of Economy is collecting all consumers’ claims for several exchange points and after this ends, the Ministry will distribute a general announcement to all exchange points for respecting the consumer protection laws in these cases.
