TIRANA, March 1
Albania has seen a considerable increase in the number of construction permits issued during 2017 the Institute of statistics confirmed. Some 819 permits were approved during the past year. The sector is shown signs of recovery as the number of permits increased by 88.3 percent compared to 2016. Capital city Tirana reflected the highest number of construction permits with a total of 231, or 125 permits more than in 2016. In the meantime, the construction surface in Tirana accounts for 60 percent of the total surface in Albania.
Other cities where the construction sector is on a positive trend are Fieri and Durresi. On the other hand, the cities with the lowest number of construction permits are Kukesi and Dibra.
The construction surface increased by 128.5 percent while investments in new buildings were estimated Lek 49.1 billion.
