INSTAT published on February 13 the number of Albania’s population based on data recorded in January 2015. The report shows that in country live 2.893.005 inhabitants, less than 2942 inhabitants compared to data recorded in January 2014. Gender report in Albania is 102.1 males for every 100 females, in other terms 1.462.005 males and 1.431.000 females are currently registered as citizens living in country.
The average age in Albania’s population is 35 years old and during the past year the number of births was 35.760, 18.683 of them males and 17.077 females. The report shows that in 2014 46.413 individuals left the country where 52% of them were males. The number of emigrants reached the number of 28.486 individuals.
Tirana county has the highest number of inhabitants, 800.986 individuals, followed by Fier county with 315.012 inhabitants and Elbasan county with 301.397 inhabitants. In turn, the counties which have the lowest number of inhabitants are Gjirokastra, Kukes and Dibra counties, respectively counting 72.202, 85.461 and 136.476 inhabitants. INSTAT figures for recent years show that the number of inhabitants in Tirana, Durresi and Vlora counties has increased, while in other counties the number of inhabitants has decreased in the last years.
