An official delegation from Bérat commune of France visited the Albanian city of Berat with the aim to set up new collaboration ties between the two counties. The twinning partnership of them was the idea of Gazmend Toska, a successful Albania businessman in France. The twinning of Bérat commune of France and Berat Municipality of Albania consists in the collaboration of these two in the fields of culture, art and social issues as well as in youth exchange programs.
The mayor of Berat Municipality, Fadil Nasufi and his French counterpart Paul Marie Blanc expressed their interest and the good will to a broader cooperation between important institutions of these cities. The First Councilor of French Embassy in Albania Gilbert Didier also attended the welcoming ceremony of French delegation to Berat. After visiting many cultural sites, museums and the headquarters of French Alliance in Berat, they held a discussion with franchophone Albanian teachers and students that live in Berat city.
Bérat is a commune in the Haute-Garonne department in southwestern France. Situated about 240 meters over the seal level, the city has circa 2800 inhabitants.
