The Minister of Economic Development, Trade, Tourism and Entrepreneurship Arben Ahmetaj held a press conference on May 15th to announce the controls that will be undertaken in the hydrocarbons sector. βThe hydrocarbons market will undergo inspections starting from the production of the oil to the consumer,β declared Ahmetaj. The action for the identification and the punishment of the abusers will have zero tolerance by the charged institutions, added the Minister.
Ahmetaj also published the results of the inspections made in the hydrocarbons retail market from May 4th to May 14th by a joint group of experts from the energy sector, the Police, the Tax Administration, the General Directorate of Customs and experts from the Metrology.
After several inspections in different regions in Tirana, Berat, Lushnje, Rreshen, Durres and Elbasan counties, the task force fined four subjects for lack of technical equipments and three deposits of oil have been blocked. The experts have also closed 19 retail points and have cancelled the activity of 9 retail points.
The Minister also declared that this task force has collaborated with the economic crime unit by making 122 controls and identifying 14 subjects which were hiding their incomes or the amount of merchandises in their magazines. Due to this inspection, the officials of the war against economic crime have closed 6 retail points.
In concluding his press declaration, Ahmetaj declared that all the citizens will be supplied for the exact amount of fuel they pay for. According to him, the fair competition and the protection of the consumers from abusive retailers are the motto of this inspection which will continue for the hydrocarbons wholesale points.
