Vermosh commune is one of the most attractive areas of Albania. Located in the northern edge of the Albanian territory, Vermosh is well known for the astonishing panorama that offers the pristine nature of this village. Vermosh is 95 km from Shkodra city and 1200 above the sea level. The flora in this area consists mainly of beech wood and conifers.
Travelling from Shkodra city to Vermosh, tourists may see many beautiful natural spots as the Tamara bridge and Limi lake. Being located in north, Vermosh is known for the heavy snowfalls which last about 100 days per year. The road map of the area has been compiled by the students of the University of Shkodra and Podgorica and supported by the German project, GTZ.
If you are thinking to visit Vermosh during winter, the area offers many entertainment opportunities , such as mountain trekking in the Marlula highland, or hiking in the deep alpine valleys of Lepusha or Cem, skiing in steep mountainsides, mountain biking or you can practice fishing in the natural small lakes of Vermosh. Vermosh commune has also an unique culinary and food tradition.
The government has taken several investments lately in the road infrastructure, in order to ease the travel to this mountain area. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, visited lately the commune and inspected the undergoing works. Rama wrote in his official Twitter account, βThe wind of Renewal is blowing in the north. The construction site of Vermosh road where the beauty of the nature amazes and the long abandoning of this area is disappointing.β
