TIRANA, March 21
UK-Albania Tech Hub marked the successful completion of its pilot phase on Wednesday, March 20. The initiative launched by the British Embassy and the British Council that aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs and the tech sector in Albania was concluded with six selected companies that had the opportunity to travel and meet investors and partners in the UK. 23 Albanian startup applied following the launch of the initiative in August 2017. In the end, only six startup companies form the tech sector managed to the final and they are Dentem, Green Leaf Albania, Business Magazine Albania, EasyPay, Almotech, and Altropost.
The shortlisted startups had the opportunity to embark on an eight-week training program with experts from both countries and to be part of an exchange program in the UK.
UK-Albania Tech Hub is a way to building a sustainable digital ecosystem and it will also help to promote economic growth and strengthen the partnership between Albania and the UK.
British Ambassador to Tirana Duncan Norman praised the initiative as an excellent opportunity for both countries. He also added that the Albanian youth is dynamic and it should take advantage of such initiatives. UK-Albania Tech Hub is based on the model of UK-Israel Tech Hub.
