TIRANA, June 27
Two economic agreements with the German side were ratified on Monday by the Foreign Policy Parliamentary Committee in the framework of the financial cooperation for 2014. The lawmakers, member of this committee, adopted the agreements respectively on the 110 kV transmission network in southern Albania and on the reconstruction of the dormitories in the University campus of Tirana without debates. Director on Electro-Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Industry Agim Bregasi said that the agreement on the energy sector consists on a fund of Euro 2 million granted by the German government through KfW Bank. The project is being implemented in both eastern and western part of the southern region. The construction of the line in the Ionian Coast will help to improve electrical infrastructure, as a necessity for the development of tourism. Moreover, it is expected that the new line will reduce the flow of power from the remote lines of 220 kV network.
According to Bregasi, besides the elimination of load energy, the project aims at improving the operational and financial performance of the Electrical Supply Store (OSHEE).
In the meantime, deputy Minister of Energy and Industry Ilir Bejta said that the second agreement will focus on the reconstruction of the dormitories in the City of Students, in order to improve energy efficiency.
Both draft-laws were sent to the parliament, which is expected to adopt them during the upcoming plenary season.
