Turkish Lira Decline Favors Albanian Importers

TIRANA, May 28

While the Turkish economy is at risk as the national currency Lira hit a record low, Albanian importers are taking advantage of the situation. Last Wednesday, Turkey’s currency hit historic lows, bringing losses to more than 20 percent against the Dollar. Turkey is one of the main trade partners of Albania, and the recent decline of the Lira resulted in a price drop in most goods imported from Turkey.
The intervention of the Central Bank for increasing the key rate had a positive impact on the domestic currency.
