Albanian Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri held a meeting with Turkish investors which are part of the Turkish delegation which arrived in Albania on May 13th, on behalf of the President Tayyip Erdogan official visit to Tirana.
During the meeting with Turkish investors to invest in Albania and focus their investment activities in mining, in the energy sector and the gas sector, considered as high potential sectors for the country’s economy. “Now we are working for the compilation of the Master plan in order to realize the gasification of Albania, a very important sector to invest in,” declared the Minister.
He added that Turkey has a relatively few experience in this field and that Turkish investors are welcomed to invest in Albania at a time when the gas sector is expected to boost in the country due to the TAP project.
The Minister presented to Turkish investors the past and current developments and governmental investments in these sectors. “Within 2020, the Albanian government will invest about $420 ml in the energy distribution and transmission sectors, while it is predicted that $500 ml will be invested from the public sector,” said Gjiknuri.
The reduction of losses in the network and the elimination of financial barriers and problems for private producers are some of the reasons you should consider Albania as a destination to invest in, added the Minister. “According to our calculations, we have capacities for 3 Gig watt extra installed power,” announced Gjiknuri.
