‘Shqiperia punon token’ or Albania turning to farming, was the motto of the two-day fair organized in Tirana on November 29-30. The biggest fair of Albanian agricultural products aimed at focusing on the importance of agriculture both for local communities and for the country’s economic development. More than 600 farmers and businesses from the agriculture and agri-processing sectors showcased their products at Mother Teresa Square.
The visitors had the chance to try and buy Albanian products such as medicinal and aromatic herbs, apples from Korca and Dibra, wine, olives and olive oil, tangerines from Konispol, dairy and meat products from all over Albania.
Special attention was paid to young entrepreneurs in the agricultural and farming sectors. This was one of the main categories of participants among producers of wine and beverages, fruits and vegetables, traditional homemade products, agrotourism, etc. Young entrepreneur farmers were the novelty of this fair and Premier Edi Rama promised support and fund for every innovative idea on agricultural products that will be proposed from young farmers. Moreover, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Niko Peleshi said that the issuing of grants using IPARD funds will start in Spring 2018.
