TIRANA, December 13
The Albanian Economy benefited over half-billion Euro from tourist and visitors that entered the country for business purposes during the third quarter of 2016. This was confirmed by the Bank of Albania. Based on the data for July-September, which is the peak of the tourist season, visitors spent Euro 521 in Albania, or 25 percent more than the same period of 2015.
In the meantime, travellers spent Euro 1,161.000,000 from January to September, which is 15 percent more than in 2015.
This is the highest level ever of incomes generated from visitors. This means that tourism during 2016 turned into one of the main sectors that lead the economic growth of Albania.
On the other hand, the Institute of Statistics, INSTAT reported on Monday that employment during the third quarter increased by 18,600 jobs. Detailed data confirmed that most of those jobs were created in the service sector, which closely linked to tourism.
