The German Embassy in Albania announced October 21th as the Albanian-German Day for Development and in the framework of it, the embassy held the “Together towards EU” activity. The event was organized in collaboration with GIZ and KFW organizations which have been present in Albania with many funding projects.
The event was attended by the German ambassador to Albania, Helmut Hofmann, the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and many high officials. The German ambassador started his word by underlining the fact that the Albanian-German fruitful collaboration has continued since 26 years. Mentioning that Germany has invested more than 1 bln EUR in Albania since 1988, ambassador Hofmann illustrated the cooperation between the two countries by saying a German expression: “Do the right things and talk about them”.
In turn, the Albanian PM first made a comment on the Albania-Germany cooperation, by relating this with the latest developments following after the Albania-Serbia football match.
“I want to say some very sincere words about the cooperation between Albania and Germany, by thanking the author of the logo, who seems very inspired by the Serbia-Albania match. Although the drone is missing, you can tell the two flags waving while being connected with each other. If we want to enter faster in the EU, we must focus as a team and we must not put obstacles to each other. We must not think or imagine that we could go far by making own goals and claiming that it was a goal against the other side”, said Rama.
Rama evaluated the contribute Germany has given in the positive progress of Albania through years and in the current joint projects in the vocational education. The commitment of Germany in the region, and especially that of Chancellor, Angela Merkel, puts us towards double responsibilities in this partnership.
