Several merchants in Tirana have protested against the closure of a fruit and vegetable market after several hygiene problems were identified. The merchants protested in front of the parliament and asked many MPs to support their cause.
They say the closure of the market will harm farmers and the local agricultural products since this market was their sale destination and a profit source for them.
According to them, the decision is unfair and will have negative effects such as the increase of exports. The protest took place in the last Parliamentary session with the aim to raise more awareness among MPs.
They vowed to continue their protests, by saying that the market is their only way to earn their living. They accused the government for corruption based on the assumptions that after the market is closed, the territory will be used by high rank officials for construction and business purposes.
