TIRANA, January 5
Tirana is one of the European capitals where it is possible to live on less than 600 pounds, ($800, €673, Lek89,000). According to Business Insider, this is less than one-third of the monthly cost for a person living in London. BI published a list of 26 European cities based on data provided by Numbeo’s Cost of Living Index and Albania ranks 19th.
This index takes into consideration several indicators that influence the cost of living such as housing and rent, the average cost of necessary goods and items, transportation, travel, entertainment, etc.
According to Business Insider, the monthly living cost in the Albanian Capital is around GBP 555. Based on the list, living in Tirana is less expensive than some cities mostly located in Russia and in the Balkan region like in Sarajevo, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Varna, Timisoara, Nizhny Novgorod, and Iasi.
On the other hand, the monthly living cost in Tirana is higher compared to cities like Banja Luka, Minsk, Plovdiv, Sibiu, Skopje, Novi Sad, Kiev, Odesa, and Pristina which is ranked fourth.
