Three free economic zones, where businesses can invest and enjoy fiscal facilities will be established in Spitalla, Koplik and Vlora. Minister of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship Arben Ahmetaj made the announcement on Tuesday and said that this decision aims at attracting domestic and foreign investments.
He made a presentation of Spitalla zone, an area of 200 hectares, as well as some of the financial facilities for all those that want to invest in these zones.
“Investors in these free economic zones will be exempted from paying the tax on profit for the first five years from the day when they start their activity in the area,” Ahmetaj said.
He added that there will be a specific institution within every area that is going to facilitate procedures and to avoid bureaucracy. So far, investors from 40 countries have asked for information about these free economic areas. It is expected that the bid on the developer of free economic zones.
