The percentage of Albanian native tourists in Albania still remains the highest among the total number of tourists that choose Albania to spend their vacations during the summer season. The head of Union Touristic Operators, Sadik Malaj says that this year is expected an increase of tourists by 2%, only during the three months of summer.
75% of the tourists that spend more than 1 week vacations in the country are of Albanian nationality, Albanians living in the country and Albanians living in abroad, according to Malaj. While, 25% of tourists come from different European Union countries, most of them in organized groups for tour purposes.
“In the past years, the geography of tourists that come to Albania has extended, since nowadays in Albania you can meet tourists from every nationality and place,” declared Malaj. The Albanian government is currently discussing over several laws on tourism, which aim to improve this sector which brings many revenues to the state budget every year.
