A report released by the Institute of Statistics shows that the employment rate in the second quarter of this year increased significantly, mostly in the industry and construction sectors, in the sector of services, ICT and wholesale trade.
The employment rate in the Information and Communication sector increased by 7% in the second quarter of 2015 compared to the same period of a year before. The quarterly change of the number of employees in this sector increased by 5.2% while the index of wages fund in quarterly terms increased by 2.7%, according to the official figures published by INSTAT.
A different panorama is noted in the industry sector since the quarterly change of the number of employees in the second quarter of this year was 0%, compared to the same period of a year before while the annual change in the wages fund increased by 4.2%.
The construction sector has employed more people than other sectors since the index of the number of employees in annual terms has increased by 141% while in quarterly terms (in the second quarter) it increased by 3.9%. The wages fund in this sector increased by 7.8% in the second quarter of 2015, compared to the same period of a year before.
The index of the wages fund has increased also in the service sector, in the wholesale trade sector in annual terms by 7.5% and 14.9% respectively.
