The Albanian government will approve an agreement reached between Albania and Macedonia on March 2015 for the recognition of social contributions of Albanians and Macedonians.
Albania and Macedonia signed on March 2015 an agreement for the respective recognition of pensions’ contributions of Macedonians that live in Albania and Albanians that live in Macedonia. Statistics say that the overall number of people that will benefit from this agreement is 300 thousand people. The agreement “For Social Protection” was signed by the Albanian Minister of Social Welfare and his Macedonian counterpart in Skopje and foresees that workers of both countries will be treated equally.
The agreement will be implemented for the social insurance scheme for benefits in cases of diseases and for employed people; for self employed and maternity, for old age pensions and accidents in the workplace, ect.
Such agreement provides a legal framework many Albanian and Macedonian citizens who live in Macedonia and Albania to benefit from their social contributes. According to statistics, there are 1468 Albanian citizens living and working in Macedonia for a temporary period of time.
