All businesses that are in debt at Taxation Office or General Directorate of Customs will not be able to exercise activity at these two institutions, until the payment of debts.
The decision has been taken by these two institutions and a joint agreement has been signed between the Director of Taxation Office Briseida Shehaj and General Director of Customs, Elisa Spiropali. The agreement aims to help institutions in exchanging information at real time about businesses that have unpaid debts to these financial institutions and for the collection of outstanding debts as well as for joint inspections, aiming to fight fiscal evasion and informality.
The total debt businesses owe to these institutions is about 70 billion ALL to the Taxation Office and 10 billion ALL to Albanian Customs. This agreement, as said by the general directors, does not predict the merge of the two institutions into one. Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama declared a few days ago that a work group has been created in order to enhance and strengthen economic cooperation between Taxation Office and Albanian Customs.
The signing of the agreement comes after an intensive year of analyzing the official data of the two institutions and the articles of it.
