Swiss government will assist Albania in the better management of the public debt by financing a project worth $ 450.000 that aims to improve the management aspects and to establish capacities for financial analysis. On this behalf, the Minister of Finances and the Swiss Ambassador to Albania Christoph Graf signed an agreement, according to which the program will connect the internal and external debt in order to improve the management aspect.
According to the Minister of Finances, Shkelqim Cani, this project will help the government in conducting a deeper and more professional analysis. “Albania must have an advanced system in this regards. Due to the support of the Swiss government, the project also includes the qualification of the specialists in this field,” added the Minister. DMFAS is the sixth version of the debt management program and financial analysis and its intention is the well management of the public debt and the creation of needed capacities for the integrated management of it.
In turn, the Swiss ambassador stated that the management of governmental debts is a challenge which many countries are facing nowadays. He declared that “Albania needs to establish an efficient framework for the well management of the public debt which must be sustainable and long term and also to be adequate based on the specific fiscal features of Albania.”
