TIRANA, February 6
The location of the long-awaited southern airport will be in Vlora. Finally, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama unveiled the official site of the new airport through a Facebook post during his visit in Turkey.
“Lunch in Istanbul with President Erdogan on Vlora airport project, the Albanian airline and other strategical investments,” Rama wrote on his Facebook status update.
The location of the southern airport raised major questions for the government because the new agreement with Tirana International Airport Concessionary firm excludes the construction of another international airport within a 100km distance. Previously, it was rumoured that Gjirokastra, Saranda, and Delvina were possible locations of the airport.
