TIRANA, January 26
Investors interested in Albanian ports may submit applications for concessions or private-public partnership for six ports. The concessionary agreement will include services provided by the port. Private subjects must submit their offer regarding the investments that can be done in the ports in order to improve their anchoring and embarkation procedures.
The bid document provided by the Ministry of Transportation explains: βThe fours state-run ports in Albania, Durres, Vlora, Shengjin, and Saranda have an annual volume of 3 million tons shipping containers and 1.4 passengers.β
Meanwhile, Porto Romano and La Petrolifera are the two other ports that will be given to concessionary firms. The contract includes financing, rehabilitation, operation and maintenance. The concession term will be five years.
