A latest study by the Institute of Statistics shows that about 63% of employed Albanians in the private sector are working in service and trade sectors. ย The study compares the number of employed people in several service sectors during 2014, with the number of employed people in 2013.
25% of the total number of employed people in the private sector works in the trade sector while 10% work in the hotelier and restaurants sector. About 8% of the total number of employed Albanians in the private sector works in telecommunications and transport.
Speaking in numbers, these three sectors count a total number of 158,000 employers, respectively 92,000 employers in the trade sector, 36,000 employers in the hotelier sector and 30,000 employers in the transport and communication sectors. Other service sectors such as industry, construction and processing industry employ about 20% of the employers in the private sector, an estimated number of 74,000 employers.
Respectively, the construction sector employed 35,000 people during 2014 while the number of employees in the processing industry is estimated to be 11,000.ย The official figures say that the number of employers increased on 2014, compared to the level of employment on 2013.
