After the publication of a report on banks’ performance in Albania during 2014 by the Albanian Association of Banks, it is not hard to figure out that bank system in the country is healthy and stable.
Statistics published in the report show that from 15 second tier banks that have published their financial data, 12 of them have registered positive figures in terms of profits.
Banka Kombetare Tregetare (National Trade Bank – BKT) closed 2014 with a positive report on revenues of 5.1 billion ALL and Raiffeisen Bank increased revenues by 4.7 billion ALL. BKT and Raiffeisen Bank are the most important banks in the bank system and own a considerable portfolio of governmental titles, which guarantees a secure revenues base at low risk.
Intensa Sanpaolo Bank increased revenues by more than 2 billion ALL during 2014, a doubled profit compared to data published in 2013. Credins Bank, the first private bank in country, had also a successful year with increased revenues by 518 million ALL and with an extended loan portfolio of 18.4%.
A positive performance has been reported even by other second tier banks and only three small banks closed the year we left with a negative performance, respectively Tirana Bank, Credit Agricole and Veneto Banka.
