TIRANA, April 28
Vjosa River is called the last wild river in Europe as it flows free and no dams were built on its way. According to experts, this fact makes it unique. Currently, there are 30 experts from Germany, Austria, and Albania making observations along Vjosa River and collecting data on its biodiversity and ecosystem. They presented their findings and highlighted the importance of the river valley as Albaniaโs biodiversity hotspot.
The group of experts stressed that Vjosa River is unique and home to various species that risk extinction or are extinct in other regulated rivers in Europe.
